Celebrating Jesus!

15 years ago, God opened the doors for us to serve a very special community at Bethany Community Center. Dean Hickerson, founder of In His Service, found the building and we started classes serving the Hispanic community. We have offered English Classes for the Women and classes for children Kindergarten through High School. Every Thursday evening during the school year, we meet at Bethany, 1120 Central, Kansas City, Kansas at 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

We depend totally on volunteers to come and serve alongside us. Lessons are put together for each age group and ready for a volunteer to work through each evening. We have many special evenings celebrating certain holidays, special people, and special talents! If you have a talent you would like to come down and share, we would love that. If you have a life group or youth group that would like to come and serve, we need you. If you would like to teach your children to serve with the family, this is a great place to do that. We can plug you in to help one of our classes. We have volunteers who serve every week, every other week or once a month. Our volunteers are heart and hands of this ministry. God has been so good to provide for our needs and if you would like to see if this is something for you, please contact me. The more volunteers we have, the more we can do and help each child.

Our Birthday Party for Jesus is a special party each year for all the children. A local church adopts each of our children and we pass out their gifts at Jesus' Birthday Party. Complete with cake and ice cream, we also award perfect and good attendance certificates. Throughout the year, this ministry provides several different parties and activities for the children and their families. In August, we provide a Back to School picnic for all the children and their families. We collect school supplies and backpacks in July. The first weekend in August we distribute the backpacks with supplies. The children are so excited to get a new backpack full with supplies ready to start that first day of school! We have a fall festival party in October, we celebrate LOVE in the month of February with a Valentine's Party and a "End of the Year" picnic as we close our classes for the year in May. We are building relationships with a community so we can love and lead them to Christ.
