December Newsletter
We have a God, because of his love for us, become human and came to earth in the form of a baby…”to live” to sacrifice himself for each of us…how can we do anything but “praise him” and be in “awe” of who He is and what He did for each of us. I want to wish each of you a very blessed Christmas and I pray that you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and that you will share Him, praise Him and thank Him for his precious gift of “life”!
Good News Club News:
We enjoyed a week of “Thanksgiving” parties at our Good News Clubs. Our Thanksgiving Party theme was “Be Thankful for Life”. I went to Kansans For Life and borrowed the “baby” models and took these to share with the children! They are models of the growth of the baby. The children had mixed reactions. The younger ones were really interested and the older ones weren’t quite sure about them! We had a great homework sheet: Life’s Greatest Questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? Keep Life Simple! Know God, Live for God and Serve God! Our lessons are always so good and I think as one of the teachers, I probably learn more than anyone! I love Child Evangelism Fellowship’s materials and how good they are for the children (and the teachers).
God’s word is alive and active and no matter what your age, the word is always teaching you and relevant! The more I learn and study God’s word, the hungrier I am and the more I realize how much I don’t know! The children were encouraged to complete these sheets and bring them back-they did! We also sent home an awesome coloring book about creation and how God had created it all…and the last page was a picture of a baby-and God created me! The parties are always fun but most importantly, we are sharing God and his Word! Every week we have children ask for counseling-some have questions, others accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior!
Because of your support of this ministry, we are able to sponsor and bring God’s word right into the schools…every week! We need volunteers. We would love to have you come and see what it is all about! Thank you!
We will be having our “Birthday Party for Jesus” on Thursday, December 15th.
Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Overland Park, every year adopts all of our children and provides a gift for them. We will serve Cake/Ice Cream and have a party! Would you like to help?
Bethany Classes News:
We had a wonderful night of food and fellowship for our Thanksgiving Potluck. Many of the women brought food and then many in the Companions of Christ Sunday School Class volunteered to prepare food and come and serve it. I am so thankful for the support of this class and all they do to help serve and meet the needs of these families and children. The class just recently had a fund raiser-which was fantastic! “The Ed Cellophane Show”….a talent show put together by many along with a fantastic meal. The class raised $300 for In His Service. This class is a group of “followers of Jesus Christ” who not only spends time in the word but spends time “following” and “serving” as we obey the word! THANK YOU so much Companions in Christ!
We gave out 13 baskets of food along with l3 gift cards to the local “Sunfresh” for the meat and fresh items. Several life groups from Legacy Christian Church and individuals helped with these! Thank you so much. One of our sweet ladies came up afterwards with Marcia (one of the adult English teachers) she wanted to say thank you and with tears in her eyes, she was so grateful for the help that was SO needed!
Needs:
Gift Cards to Walmart-$25 or $50
McDonald’s gifts cards-$5 each
Q-Trip Gas Cards-$20
We will be helping families with Christmas. If you would like to help sponsor a family or a child, would you contact me? Or indicate that on your donation. So many would be so grateful for the help this year!
A fund raising committee: Would you consider helping with fund raising for this ministry? Please contact me if this is something you could do to help!
As we wrap up another year, would you prayerfully consider including “In His Service” in your year-end giving? Would you consider supporting “IHS” monthly with a $l0, $25 or $50 donation? We are a 501c3 and all donations are tax-deductible. God bless you and your family this Christmas season!
